Our Council

Faith Community Church is governed by a council made up of the lead pastor, four elected elders and three elected deacons.  Videos, definitions, and Biblical rationale for the role of Elder and Deacon are located on the Christian Reformed Church website.

JEFF BOKMA | ELDER

Jeff Bokma lives in Shubenacadie with his wife Heidi. They’ve been married for 35 yrs on August 14th. They have three grown children – Elsie, Jeremy and Joshua. Having two grandchildren – Reese and Jade.

Jeff works at Eastern Dairy Services Ltd as salesman, serviceman and lead bottle washer. He likes to be called Boss.

His favorite bible verses are John 8:7&8 where Jesus tells the Pharisees if you are without sin throw the first stone at an adulterer. When they all left, he told her he didn’t condemn her either. He also challenges her and us too to leave your life of sin.

“Thank you Jesus for not condemning me. Help me to leave my life of sin.”

doug hankinson | deacon

“Growing up in small town Nova Scotia many issues-of-the day were rather polarized. One for me which I was unable to reconcile at the time was that of baptism. The two main physical practices in my area were by christening and by immersion. The common thread was that upon reaching the “age of understanding” the individual made a public profession of faith to confirm that baptism regardless of how and when it happened. Examining the practices of the Christian Reformed Church I found a faith family where practice met all facets of scriptural interpretation for baptism. At this present time and as a member of Faith CRC I am entering my third year as Deacon”
